Speaking activity Free

How to use in offline lessons:

  • Print or project the object pictures for students to see.
  • Give each student (or small group) an object.
  • Students have 30 seconds to plan silently (or very briefly in pairs).
  • Each student delivers a 30-second sales pitch to the class.
  • After the pitch, classmates show their interest (thumbs up, applause) or ask 1–2 follow-up questions.
  • Option: Class votes on the most convincing presentation!

How to use in online lessons:

  • Share object pictures via screen share, chat, or email.
  • Assign objects individually or randomly select them in front of the group.
  • Students have a brief moment to think, then deliver their 30-second pitch using their webcam and microphone.
  • Classmates react in the chat (e.g., emojis 👍👏) or ask quick questions aloud.

Option: Use breakout rooms for small group pitches before returning to the main room for sharing highlights.
