Autumn Memory Swap Board game
How to use this activity:
Individual Work
The student opens a card with a prompt about autumn (e.g. “Your warmest autumn memory”). The student speaks for a few sentences, describing their own memory in detail.
Encourage the student to use past tenses and add at least one extra element, such as where it happened, who was there, or how they felt.
Pair or Group Work
Students work in pairs or small groups. One student opens a card and shares their autumn memory aloud. A partner listens carefully.
Groups can set a short time limit (e.g. 1 minute per memory) or give points for clear retelling and use of detail.
This format works well in class and also in online breakout rooms.
Class Sharing
At the end, invite a few students to share their warmest memory with the whole class. Classmates can ask short follow-up questions, compare experiences, or add comments to make the activity more interactive.
Encourage students to use the Useful Phrases provided to build their stories more confidently and naturally.
