Born to - Forced to...

Speaking activity Free

How to Use This Activity:

Individual Work

  • Read each phrase and decide whether it fits better with “born to” or “forced to.”
  • Then drag the item to the correct column.
  • After placing the item, explain your choice.
  • Use simple sentences and give examples from your own life (likes, habits, routines, personal experiences, etc.).

Pair or Group Work

  • Students work in pairs or small groups.
  • They take turns dragging one item to a column and commenting on it.
  • The player explains whether the activity is “born to do” or “forced to do” and gives a short reason.
  • The other students listen and can:

        - react to the answer,
        - ask one short follow-up question,
        - say whether they agree or disagree, or guess the answer before the player speaks.

This activity encourages personal speaking practice and works very well in both face-to-face and online classes.
