How to use this activity:
Individual Work
Show one prompt card (e.g. drink coffee, go shopping).
Ask the student to make two true sentences about themselves using the prompt:
– One sentence in Present Simple
– One sentence in Past Simple
Encourage the use of time markers and useful phrases (e.g. I usually… / I … yesterday at…) to support accuracy and fluency.
Pair or Group Work
Put students in pairs or small groups (or use breakout rooms online).
The teacher assigns one or several prompts by sending them in the chat or as private messages.
Each student says two true sentences using the prompt – one in Present Simple, one in Past Simple.
Peers can ask short follow-up questions (When?, Why?, Really?) to keep the conversation going.
Class Sharing
Invite 1–2 students to share their best or funniest sentence from the round.
Use this moment to review common mistakes (e.g. I drinked coffee) and praise correct use of tenses.
