Functional Language Scenarios

This activity focuses on practical English usage in settings like restaurants, airports, and stores, encouraging students to create and present dialogues using functional language.

- Arrange students into pairs or small groups, using breakout rooms for online classes. 
- Assign each group a different everyday scenario, such as a situation in a restaurant, airport, or store. 
- Provide students with a list of phrases and words relevant to their scenario to aid in creating dialogues. 
- Instruct students to develop short, realistic dialogues incorporating these functional language elements. 
- Allow time for practice within their groups, focusing on natural conversation and correct usage. - Have each group present their dialogue to the class, with online groups rejoining the main session for their presentations. 
- After each presentation, offer feedback on the use of functional language, and encourage peer feedback.
