Guess the Object
How to Use This Activity
Individual work
Each student receives a card with several objects.
They choose one (or more) and say five words related to it.
The words can describe shape, colour, size, material, or use.
Pair or group work
Students work in pairs or small groups.
Each person chooses two or three objects from the card and says five words to describe them.
The others try to guess what the object is, using simple phrases such as I think it’s… or Maybe it’s….
Whole class sharing
At the end, a few students share their most original or funny descriptions with the class.
The rest can comment, add more words, or try to guess other objects.
💡 Ideas to Make It More Fun
🏆 Guessing game:
One student describes an object in five words, and the rest try to guess it as quickly as possible.
⏱️ With a timer:
Use a timer to make it more dynamic.
For example, give each student 30 seconds to say their five words before the time runs out.
🎯 Only associations or only descriptions:
The teacher can decide that students say only associations (e.g. work, office, internet, study, portable)
or only descriptive words (e.g. big, grey, useful, heavy, modern).
