My Happy Basket

Speaking activity ENG HUB Pro

How to Use This Activity

Individual Work

  • The student looks at the basket in the middle of the screen. Around the basket, there are many objects (food, hobbies, clothes, gadgets, sports items, etc.).
  • The student chooses 5 objects to put into the basket. They explain their choices aloud, using full sentences such as “In my basket, I have…”, “I need… because…”, or “I don’t need… because….”
  • Encourage the student to add details to make the answers more personal.

Pair or Group Work

  • Students work in pairs or small groups. One student chooses 5 objects and explains what is in their basket. The partner asks short follow-up questions (“Why do you need it?” / “What will you use it for?”) or comments on the choices. Then they switch roles.
  • Groups can set a time limit (e.g. 1 minute per explanation) or give points for creative and detailed answers. This adds variety and makes the activity more dynamic.
  • After several rounds, invite a few students to present their baskets to the class.
  • Classmates can compare baskets, vote on the “most balanced basket” or the “most surprising basket,” and ask short follow-up questions.
  • Encourage students to recycle the Useful Phrases provided to support their speaking and keep explanations clear.
