Identity Under Pressure

Speaking activity ENG HUB Pro

How to use this activity:

In Class (Offline)

  • Open the Genially spinner on the screen.
  • Students take turns spinning the wheel and reading their scenario.
  • The student has to describe how their life would change using the second conditional.
  • Encourage the class to react, ask follow-up questions, or vote for the most creative or convincing answer.

Online (Zoom/Teams)

  • Share your screen and open the spinner.
  • Choose a student to spin the wheel and read the scenario aloud.
  • The student describes the consequences using “If…, I would…”.
  • Other students can comment or ask one follow-up question. Keep the pace dynamic and engaging.

Pair or Group Mode

  • Share the Genially link with students.
  • Students spin the wheel and complete the challenge in pairs or small groups.
  • After each round, they rotate partners or choose a new scenario.
  • Encourage them to include at least two second conditional sentences in each response.

Whole-Class Discussion

  • Invite volunteers or select the most original responses to present their ideas to the whole class.
  • Encourage students to explain their reasoning and expand on the consequences.
  • The class can vote for the most creative, realistic, or thought-provoking scenario.
  • Finish with a short reflection: Which society would they actually like to live in — and why?
