Into the Dream

Speaking activity ENG HUB Pro

Online (with Breakout Rooms)

  • Share your screen and show one dream starter at a time, or send each group a different starter in the chat.
  • Put students into pairs or small breakout groups.
  • One student reads the dream starter aloud and begins continuing the dream story.
  • Their partner listens and then asks one or two follow-up questions, such as:
"What happened after you opened the door?"
"How did you feel when you saw the island?"
  • After 1–2 minutes, swap roles or give a new dream starter.
  • Students return to the main room and share one dream continuation they found most surprising, funniest, or most creative.

Offline / In-Person

  • Print and distribute the dream starter cards, or project them for the whole class.
  • Students work in pairs or small groups.
  • Each student reads their dream starter and continues the story aloud for 1–2 minutes.
  • Partners listen carefully and ask simple follow-up questions like:
"What did the star feel like?"
    "Who did you meet next?"
  • After the discussion, students share with the class one dream they thought was especially imaginative or exciting.
