Let’s plan a perfect event!

Speaking activity ENG HUB Pro

In this fun speaking activity for B1-B2 level ESL students, small groups/pairs/students are tasked with planning various types of hypothetical events. From organizing a birthday party to setting up a fitness bootcamp, this exercise offers a practical and engaging way to practice English language skills.

Each group/pair/student receives an "Event Card" specifying the type of event they're responsible for planning. Using a range of English vocabulary and structures, students discuss aspects such as venue choice, guest count, food options, and activities. Students are encouraged to use a variety of language structures, including future tense ("We will have balloons")/ modal verbs like "would" for hypothetical planning ("We would invite 30 people").

The activity culminates in each group/pair/student presenting their plans to the group. This is an excellent opportunity for students to practice both speaking and listening skills.
