My Summer Memory Vault

How to use:

• Students click on any star to reveal a summer memory prompt.
• Give them a moment to think of a memory that matches the prompt.
• Students share their memory with a partner, a group or the whole class.
• Encourage them to add details and answer follow-up questions.
• If they don’t have a matching memory, they can imagine a summer memory they wish they had.
• After sharing, students put the star in their Summer Memory Jar.
• Extra-special memories go in the Special Summer Memory Jar.
• Continue with more stars for as long as you like.
• At the end, students look back at their memories and choose the most special, funniest or most unforgettable one.

Extra ideas:

• Memory Swap: Students retell a partner’s memory to the group.
• Guess Whose Memory: Students listen to anonymous memories and guess who they belong to.
• Memory Ranking: Students choose their top three memories of the summer and explain their choices.
• One More Question: After each memory, classmates ask at least one follow-up question.
• Memory Connections: Students find someone who has a similar summer memory.
• Two Truths and a Summer Lie: Students share three summer memories. Classmates guess which one is invented.
• Memory Awards: Finish with fun categories such as Funniest Memory, Biggest Surprise, Best Adventure or Most Unexpected Moment.
• Future Vault: Students add one experience they would like to have next summer.
