My Version of a Crisis

Individual work

• The teacher assigns one or more situation cards to the student.
• The student reads the situation and decides whether it is a real crisis or just a small problem for them. They prepare 2–3 sentences explaining their opinion, what they would do, and whether they have ever experienced something similar.
• The student then shares their answer with the class or teacher.
• The teacher can model a sample answer before the activity.
• Encourage students to use the phrase starters, explain their opinion, describe how they would solve the problem, and share personal experiences.

Pair / Group work (including breakout rooms)

• The teacher assigns one or more situation cards to each pair or group.
• One student reads the situation, decides whether it is a real crisis or not, and explains their answer.
• Their partner asks follow-up questions, shares their own opinion, and compares how they would react in the same situation.
• Students then swap roles and continue with a new card.
