Picture Talk - Describe it

Individual work

• The teacher assigns one or more picture cards to the student.
• The student chooses one picture, looks at the details and prepares a short description of what they can see.
• The student describes the picture and then answers the follow-up questions.

Encourage students to:
- use the useful phrases
- describe people, places and actions
- answer the follow-up questions
- add simple details about their own life and preferences

Pair / Group work (including breakout rooms)

• The teacher assigns one or more picture cards to each pair or group.
• One student chooses a picture and describes it without reading the questions first.
• Their partner listens, adds any details they notice and asks the follow-up questions on the card.
• Students can compare their answers and talk about their own experiences or preferences connected to the picture.
• Students then swap roles and continue with a new picture.
