Picture Talk - Describe it
Individual work
- The teacher assigns one or more picture cards to the student.
- The student chooses one picture, looks at the details and prepares a short description of what they can see.
- The student describes the picture and then answers the follow-up questions.
Encourage students to:
- use the useful phrases
- describe people, places and actions
- answer the follow-up questions
- add simple details about their own life and preferences
Pair / Group work (including breakout rooms)
- The teacher assigns one or more picture cards to each pair or group.
- One student chooses a picture and describes it without reading the questions first.
- Their partner listens, adds any details they notice and asks the follow-up questions on the card.
- Students can compare their answers and talk about their own experiences or preferences connected to the picture.
- Students then swap roles and continue with a new picture.
