Postcard Stories from the Past
Individual work
The teacher assigns one or more diary cards and gives students a moment to read the beginning of the story.
Students think about what might have happened next and prepare a short continuation. Give 30–60 seconds to think, then students continue the story aloud using past tenses. Focus on fluency and storytelling rather than correcting mistakes.
Group work (including breakout rooms)
The teacher assigns one or more diary cards to each pair or group.
Students work in pairs or small groups (2–4 students) and create their own continuation of the story together.
After a few minutes, students switch partners or groups and tell their story to a new classmate, who can ask a few questions about what happened.
Class Sharing
Invite several students or groups to share their stories with the whole class.
Other students can ask short questions or comment on the story.
Keep feedback focused on clarity, creativity, and communication.
