Spring Alias

Speaking activity ENG HUB Pro

How to Play:

Online Play
• Send the Spring Alias cards privately to students before the game.
• Divide students into teams or pairs in breakout rooms.
In each round, one student (the describer) explains the spring-themed words on the card without saying the word itself or using parts of it. Their team or partner guesses as many words as possible.
• Set a time limit for each round (1–2 minutes recommended).
• Switch roles every round.
• Teams earn 1 point for each correctly guessed word.
If students play individually:
• 1 point goes to the describer for each successfully explained word.
• 1 point goes to the guesser for each correct answer.
Winner: The team or player with the highest score after a set number of rounds wins.

Offline Play
• Print the Spring Alias cards before class.
• Divide students into teams or pairs.
Students take turns drawing a card and describing the words to their teammates within the time limit.
• Keep track of points on the board.
• Rotate roles regularly so everyone practises speaking.
You can adjust timing and scoring depending on class size and lesson duration.
