Storyline Spin

Instructions:

• Split the class into small groups or pairs, either in person or in breakout rooms if online.
• Hand out or digitally assign one story outline to each group/pair.
• Tell students to expand their outline into a full scene with dialogue, character thoughts, and descriptions.
• Allocate 10-15 minutes for story development and 5 minutes for sharing.
• Offer guidance on character and plot development, and encourage the use of diverse vocabulary.
• Have groups present their stories to the class, or swap stories between groups for feedback.
• Provide feedback focusing on language use, creativity, and narrative development.
