The 10-Minute Version

Individual work

• The teacher assigns one or more cards to the student. 
• The student reads the task and imagines they have only 10 minutes to complete it. 
• They decide what to do first, choose the most important actions, and explain their choices.
• Encourage the student to name at least three actions, put them in a logical order, and explain why some actions are more important than others.

Pair/group work (including breakout rooms)

• The teacher assigns one or more cards to each pair or group. Students take turns reading their tasks and presenting their 10-minute plans.
• The other students listen, suggest different priorities, and ask follow-up questions. 
• Encourage students to compare their plans and agree on the best way to use the 10 minutes.

Extra ideas

• Students list everything they could do and choose the three most important actions.
• Students put their actions in order from first to last.
• Students explain what they would skip and why.
• One student presents a plan, and their partner suggests a better or faster one.
• Students compare two cards and decide which task would be easier in 10 minutes.
• Students rank several tasks from easiest to most difficult.
• Students work together to create the most realistic 10-minute plan.
• Set a real 10-minute timer and ask students to make decisions before it ends.
