The Perfect Gift For...

Speaking activity ENG HUB Pro

How to Use This Activity

Individual Work
The student reads their “Perfect Gift” card and its twist. Their task is to think of a Christmas gift that fits both the person and the twist, then prepare a short explanation using the useful phrases provided. Encourage them to justify their choice clearly and refer to the character’s needs or situation. They may write brief notes before speaking.

Pair or Group Work
Students read one card and twist together and decide on the most suitable gift idea. They must agree on the reasoning and use the target phrases to explain why their gift is the best fit. After presenting, other students can question or challenge the idea (e.g. “Would they really use it?”, “How does it solve the problem?”). Rotate cards so groups work with several scenarios.

Class Sharing
Invite students or groups to present their strongest gift proposal to the class. Listeners evaluate clarity, creativity, and how well the gift addresses the twist. Optionally, hold a quick vote for Most Creative Gift, Most Practical Gift, or Funniest Twist Solution.
