The Real Review

Individual work

The teacher assigns one or more experience cards to a student. 
The student reads each card, thinks about their own experience (or imagines they have had it), rates it from ★☆☆☆☆ to ★★★★★, and creates a short Google Maps-style review explaining what happened, what they liked, what was disappointing, and whether they would recommend the experience to other people.

Pair / Group work (including breakout rooms)

Students take turns reading their reviews aloud without saying the number of stars first. Their partner(s) listen, guess the rating, and ask follow-up questions to learn more about the experience.

Possible questions:

Why did you give it that rating?
What was the best part?
What was the most difficult part?
Would you do it again?
Would you recommend it to me? Why?

Class sharing

Students share one of their reviews with the class. The teacher invites classmates to compare their ratings, discuss different opinions, and vote on which experience received the most positive, most negative, or most surprising review. Students can explain whether they agree or disagree with each review and why.
