Three Reasons Why

Speaking activity Free

How to use:

Give each student a fun, thought-provoking situation — for example: Travel in a trailer with 8 people, Have dinner with strangers, or Spend one day in total silence.
Students must think of three reasons why this situation could be a good idea. The goal is to practise creativity, reasoning, and sentence building in a light and fun way.

Encourage students to speak in full sentences. Provide useful speaking starters such as:
– One reason is that…
– I think it’s a good idea because…
– It’s worth doing because…
– It helps you to…
– You never know — it might…

Students can work individually, in pairs, or in groups. Then, they share their ideas with the class — either by speaking or posting on the board/chat.

At the end, you can vote for the funniest, most logical, or most creative answer — or ask the class to give feedback.

Perfect as a warm-up, fluency practice, speaking challenge, or creative thinking activity.
