How to Use (for Teachers)

Students read a winter-themed sentence starter aloud and finish it freely, then expand on it through guided questions or quick reactions.

Tips for Individual Lessons

• Ask the student to extend their idea with one or two extra details.

• Use wh-questions (What? Why? How often?) to keep them talking.

• Share your own short answer afterwards so they can compare and respond.

• Encourage them to add a mini-story if they feel comfortable.

Tips for Group Lessons

• Put students into pairs or breakout rooms with a small set of starters.

• Each student reads a prompt and completes it while their partner reacts or asks a simple follow-up question.

• Rotate partners every few minutes to keep energy high.
