Yes, No, Maybe

Speaking activity ENG HUB Pro

How to Use

Individual Work

Give each student one or more cards. Students read the activity, decide if it is something they do/have done (Yes), would like to do (Maybe), or are not interested in (No), and answer the follow-up questions in complete sentences.

Pair Work (Breakout Rooms)

Students take turns reading their cards and sharing their answers. Partners ask extra questions to find out more and keep the conversation going.

Class Sharing

Invite students to share one interesting answer with the class. Encourage classmates to ask follow-up questions and compare their ideas.

Reflection

Students discuss:

  • their favourite activity
  • the activity they would most like to try
  • the activity they are least interested in
  • the activity they would choose for a perfect weekend
  • the activity they think would be the most fun
  • the most surprising activity from the discussion

Variations

  • Pair Interviews: Students ask follow-up questions and find out more about their partner’s answers.
  • Ranking Task: Students rank 5–10 activities from most to least interesting and explain their choices.
  • Find Someone Who...: Students find classmates who answered Yes, Maybe, or No to different activities.
  • Perfect Weekend: Students choose three activities and create their ideal weekend plan.
